Conducted due diligence for multiple venture capital firms evaluating investment opportunities and private equity buyouts in the following markets; manufacturing software, materials, semiconductor process equipment, and intellectual property. The due diligence process included evaluations of markets, competition, products, technology, and people including executives, technologists and sales and marketing individuals. Direct customer interviews were conducted to evaluate customer satisfaction levels. Areas of strength, weakness, and possible growth were identified. The potential impact on the financials and company value were assessed. Interviews with other investors and board members were conducted to aid in the negotiation process.

Hired by an angel investor to evaluate the potential of a Linux based software startup. The process included a detailed review of the products, technology base, software developers and methodology, markets, and distribution channels. Based on the recommendations of SD Lawson & Associates, LLC the company focused on a single market, defined the release 1.0 product, and made staffing changes. The investor made additional investment in the company and began to seek additional outside funds. SD Lawson & Associates, LLC personnel were retained to continue advising the investor and to provide coaching and mentoring for the President.
